For the first time since the original publication in 1954, a new edition of The Lord of the Rings launched in 2021 that includes illustrations, sketches, and maps from author J.R.R Tolkien. This modesty meant that relatively little else of his artwork was known of or seen during his lifetime, and generally only in scholarly books afterwards."

"What I know and what I can say for a fact is that it's going to be darker, and it's going to be edgier and more character-driven," Season 2 director Charlotte Br?ndstr?m shared with MovieZine earlier this year. "I still think that we have some very interesting episodes coming up. I watched all of them over Christmas, just the cuts. I think it's going to be a very good season. We tried to make it more gritty, a little bit more dirty I guess. And not in the image, but to make it as authentic as possible. We have some very surprising twists and turns in it as well."

McFarlane Toys has partnered with Marvel to create 1:6th scale posted figures inspired by Todd McFarlane's iconic artwork featuring Spider-Man and Captain America on the covers of Amazing Spider-Man #301 and The Amazing Spider-Man #323 respectively. Each figure will include an an environmental base, a diorama backdrop, comic book reprint, and an art card. Look for these figures / statues to launch on July 18th at 9am PT / 12pm ET via the retailers listed above.

McFarlane Toys' Marvel collection will also include 1:10th scale posed figures based on cover art by Todd McFarlane, Jim Lee, Steve Ditto, John Romita Sr., and Rob Liefeld. Characters featured will include Spider-Man, Captain America, Wolverine, Iron Man, and Deadpool. Release dates for these figures haven't been revealed, but they should be available at some point this summer. McFarlane had the following to say to ComicBook about the future of the lineup:

"Well, you know, I sort of got a soft spot for some of the guys I grew up with," McFarlane said. "I'm gonna do a tip of the hat in the first series to Jim Lee and Rob Liefeld because I thought that during that whole era where we came along, we sort of each made our mark in different ways that were there."

"Eventually, I'd like to tip my hat to some of the people that inspired me a ton, George Perez and John Byrne," McFarlane said. "But I also know that there's a whole generation that have come in who those aren't the guys they grew up with, right? It's more of people that they're looking at right now. And whether it's the interior artist and, or the cover artist, I'll be sort of looking at what they're asking for and giving them that."

Finally, look for DC Multiverse Batman/Superman Fusion (World's Finest), Dick Grayson Batman (Batman: Reborn), and Adam West Batman '66 figures to launch in on July 25th at 9am PT / 12pm ET. Once again, they should be available after that time at the retailers listed above.

A stellar new sale on the Nintendo Switch Lite console can save purchasers around $100 in total. While it might not have all of the capabilities of the standard Nintendo Switch, the Switch Lite is a fantastic handheld in its own right that many have fallen in love with since its arrival back in 2019. Now, if you happen to be in the market for a Switch Lite yourself, a new deal at one retailer is one of the best that has ever been seen for the hardware.

Over at Walmart, the "Timmy & Tommy's Aloha Edition" Nintendo Switch Lite has been marked down to only $159. This version of the Switch Lite is the one that was released in proximity to Animal Crossing: New Horizons and features iconography on the turquoise handheld that calls back to the game. In addition, this bundle happens to also contain a download code for Animal Crossing: New Horizons that unlocks the full game.

Normally, this Switch Lite bundle would retail for $200, which means that Walmart has slashed the price by a little more than $40. Given that this Switch Lite package includes Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which on its own typically costs $60, it means that the savings here account for roughly $100 when considering how much this all would retail for individually. As a result, this is one of the best offers for the Switch Lite that we've ever seen in the console's existence.

Perhaps the only caveat with this sale is that it's known that Nintendo is gearing up to release a new successor to the Switch at some point in the coming year. While the "Switch 2," as it has been dubbed by fans, hasn't been revealed yet, it has been widely reported that Nintendo is targeting a release for its next console in early 2025. With this in mind, buying a Switch Lite in the final year of the console's run might not be the wisest decision. But when a deal this good comes along, it also makes it pretty hard to pass up.

A huge new sale on Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers comes with what is essentially a "free" copy of Super Mario Party. This past year, Nintendo released a bundle of red and blue Joy-Con that came packaged with a downloadable version of Super Mario Party on Switch. On its own, this package was already a fantastic deal as it was made available at a considerably lower price than the cost of the Joy-Con and Super Mario Party priced individually. Now, a huge new sale has hit this bundle and it makes the savings included even more impressive.

Over at Walmart, the retailer has cut the price of this Super Mario Party Joy-Con bundle to the staggering cost of $69. This is a discount of roughly $31 as the package typically retails for $99.99. Best of all, the item can be ordered through Walmart's website and doesn't have to be only purchased at a store near you that happens to have it in stock.

To put into perspective just how incredible this deal is, the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con on their own typically retail for $69.99. As such, this bundle that includes Super Mario Party is cheaper than just the controllers would be. This means that the download code for Super Mario Party is now being thrown in for free, which is an absurd value proposition. Essentially, if you've been needing to buy a new set of Joy-Con anyway, there's absolutely no reason not to pick up this pack-in bundle as it's one of the best deals that we've ever seen for the controllers.

At the time of this writing, Walmart happens to have a number of other fantastic promotions going for Nintendo Switch products that are worth taking notice of. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has seen its own price cut in half while Super Mario Bros. Wonder has been hit with one of its first major sales. Given that many other retailers are set to begin promotions of their own in the coming days, we could be seeing even more great deals of this nature soon enough.

Amazon Prime Day 2024 officially takes place on July 16th and 17th, but you can enjoy some fantastic Super Mario LEGO set deals right now thanks to a big Amazon sale. In fact, many of the sets in the sale are recent releases including Bowser's Muscle Car.

The first sizable discount for Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. Wonder has finally come about for a limited time. In October of 2023, Nintendo let loose its latest 2D Super Mario game on Nintendo Switch to widespread acclaim. Naturally, the game ended up selling quite well out of the gate, which meant that Nintendo hadn't found any reason to cut its price in the time since its release. Now, for those who have continued to hold out for a deal, a new offer has become available.

As of this week, Super Mario Bros. Wonder has seen its price cut to $44.99 at Walmart. This promotion is part of the retailer's "July Deals" event which sees numerous discounts on products across all departments at the store. In total, this offer on Super Mario Bros. Wonder is $15 off of its normal price and is a 25% price cut. It's worth noting that this deal only applies to the physical version of the game, however.

In all likelihood, this might be the lowest price that Super Mario Bos. Wonder sees for many more months. Nintendo itself likely isn't going to have a sale on its first-party titles until much later in the year when the holiday season is upon us. As a result, if you have been looking to buy Super Mario Bros. Wonder for quite some time, this is probably the best price you'll be able to snag it at in the foreseeable future.

The first addition to Hasbro's Star Wars The Black Series holiday lineup for 2024 has been revealed, and it's super fun. Specifically, it's a Halloween 2-pack that includes Inquisitor Dracula and a Duros Bounty Hunter Frankenstein. Of course, many will wonder why Christopher Lee's Count Dooku isn't in this set as Dracula. We have to imagine that there's a rights issue involved here, because it's hard to imagine that Hasbro would pass up the opportunity to create the greatest crossover action figure of all-time.

The Star Wars The Black Series Inquisitor and Duros Bounty Hunter Halloween Edition 2-Pack comes with six accessories including a Mynock and an Anzellan. The set appears to have launched at 12am ET on July 9th priced at $44.99, but was listed as "currently unavailable" here on Amazon at the time of writing. The set doesn't appear to be an exclusive, and it may be that it accidentally launched early. That said, keep tabs on that link for a restock. This article will also be updated with new information when it becomes available.

In other Star Wars The Black Series news, Hasbro recently released an electronic helmet inspired by The Acolyte character that fans have dubbed 'Dark Teeth", though Disney appears to be officially calling him 'The Stranger' for the purposes of spoiler-free merchandising.

The helmet is available to pre-order here at Entertainment Earth (free US shipping on orders $79+) priced at $99.99. As always, the helmet is fully wearable. You can also flip the helmet upside down to view illuminating interior lights and press and hold the side button for 3 seconds to start an hour-long collector display mode. Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai produced many masterpieces over his long career, but The Great Wave off Kanagawa is a work that can stand alongside Lednardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa in terms of its popularity and cultural impact. The woodblock print is the first work in a series dubbed Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji that he began in 1830-1831 when he was roughly 70 years old. It has been reproduced in countless ways since then, culminating in an official LEGO Art set that launched last year.

The LEGO Art Hokusai The Great Wave (31208) set allows you to recreate this iconic image in 3D with 1,810 pieces. It's a very relaxing build, especially if you scan the included QR code. It will launch a soundtrack that includes content that is designed to enhance the experience. The work depicts a stormy sea and some very unfortunate fisherman with Mount Fuji in the distance, and when you fish rendering the scene in brick form, it will be ready to display on your wall. That said, I personally own this LEGO set and can say that it's fantastic.

What's more, the Hokusai LEGO set is currently priced at $83.99 here on Amazon, which is 16% off list. If you have room for more LEGO art on your wall, the Van Gogh Starry Night LEGO Ideas set also got a similar deal here on Amazon where it is priced at $135.95, or 20% off list.

The Vincent van Gogh Starry Night LEGO set is the brainchild of Truman Cheng, a 25-year old Hong Kong based LEGO fan that submitted the concept to LEGO's Ideas crowdsourcing platform. He notes:

What Is House of the Dragon Season 2 About?

Based on George R.R. Martin's "Fire & Blood" book, House of the Dragon is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. In Season 2 of House of the Dragon, Westeros is on the brink of a bloody civil war with the Green and Black Councils fighting for King Aegon and Queen Rhaenyra, respectively. If you somehow haven't purchased Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for Nintendo Switch to this point, a new sale on the game has brought it to one of its lowest prices ever. Released in the first year of the Switch's life cycle, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has essentially never not been the highest-selling title on the platform. To this point, MK8D has sold 61.97 million copies, which over 15 million units above the next best-selling game on Switch. Now, if you've been holding off for one reason or another to add the latest Mario Kart entry to your own Switch library, a new offer is worth pouncing on.

Over at Walmart, the retail giant has slashed the price of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe by a whopping 50% and is now selling it for $29.99. This matches the lowest price that Walmart has ever sold MK8D for, which means that a deal this good likely won't end up ever coming about. It's worth stressing that this promotion might not be available for very long and it also applies only to the physical edition of the kart racing title rather than the digital version.

As mentioned, there's a good chance that this sale won't matter for many Nintendo Switch owners given that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has already been sold to nearly half of all Switch users. Beyond this, MK8D has made even greater history for Nintendo and is the best-selling game that the publisher has ever released. Still, those who may be late to the party now have a perfect opportunity to grab the Switch's version of Mario Kart at a price that likely won't be seen again soon.

What Is Beetlejuice Beetlejuice About?

"Beetlejuice is the most f*ckin' fun you can have working," Keaton previously shared with Empire. "It's so fun, it's so great. And you know what it is? We're doing it exactly like we did the first movie ... There's a woman in the great waiting room for the afterlife literally with a fishing line - I want people to know this because I love it - tugging on the tail of a cat to make it move."

Keaton added, "[Burton] and I were talking about it years and years ago, never telling anybody. I said, 'If it happens, first of all, we've both said we're doing it many times. We both agreed, if it happens, it has to be done as close to the way we made it the first time. Making stuff up, making stuff happen, improvising and riffing, but literally handmade stuff like people creating things with their hands and building something. F*ckin' great. It's the most fun I've had working on a movie in I can't tell you how long."

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is currently scheduled to debut in theaters on September 6th.

"I would pay a little bit of extra attention to some of the things we're doing at Mattel Creations," PJ Lewis, VP of Global Marketing and Executive Lead for Action Figures, exclusively told ComicBook about Mattel's fan-driven content platform for creators and collaborators. At San Diego Comic-Con, Mattel Creations polled fans on toys they'd like to see make a comeback -- with Street Sharks and Mighty Max leading the votes.

"I think one of the things Mattel has done very well is manage the nostalgia aspect of [collecting], and Street Sharks and Mighty Max, I feel like it fits perfectly," Lewis said. "Mattel has one of the richest IP libraries in pop culture, and I think the retro-nostalgic brands -- be it Street Sharks, Mighty Max, and more -- have opportunities of being reinvented. And at the same time, have opportunities for fans that grew up with them to relive some of those memories and storylines, and own a piece of that as an adult."

"You have to make sure that the specific characters that we have are delivered in an authentic manner. As we like to say, there's always a modern interpretation of a classic character," Lewis explained. "And that doesn't necessarily mean a new look. [It] could mean enhanced articulation, could mean an improved deco [paint], right? If you have one of these old figures, and you're lucky enough to either have it in [the] package or [haven't] touched it in a long time, great! If you're not holding on to one of those, and want a realistic interpretation of this memory of yours in the nineties, we want to make that available to you in that instance."

What Was Street Sharks About?

In Street Sharks, a university professor named Dr. Robert Bolton and his partner Dr. Luther Paradigm create a machine known as the "gene-slammer" which is capable of changing aquatic animals into anthropomorphic hybrids by combining their DNA. In his attempt to prevent Paradigm from using this machine for personal power, Bolton is transformed into an unseen monstrosity, but escapes. Later, Paradigm gives Bolton's four sons John, Bobby, Coop, and Clint the likeness of four different sharks. When Dr. Paradigm captures their friend Bends, the resulting "Street Sharks" rescue him and the resulting battle causes Paradigm to be combined with piranha DNA (for which he is often nicknamed "Dr. Piranoid" by other characters). In subsequent episodes, Dr. Paradigm creates a variety of mutant animals to destroy the Street Sharks while attempting to persuade the inhabitants of their native metropolis of Fission City to imprison them. Of these mutant animals, a few sided with the Sharks themselves: namely Rox, Moby Lick, Mantaman, and El Swordo.

Spin Master is bring Aloy from the Horizon series of video games to life with a new collector-grade figure. ComicBook can exclusively reveal the brand new 6" figure, the first in Spin Master's new line of Sony collectibles. The new Aloy figure, based on the heroine's appearance in Horizon Forbidden West, contains 42 points of articulation and 12 different accessories, including multiple face plates and alternate hands and several of Aloy's signature weapons. The new Deluxe figure goes on preorder today here on Amazon priced at $49.99 and will ship starting August 1st. You can check out a first look at the new figure down below:

In addition to the Deluxe Aloy figure, Spin Master will also release figures of Atreus and Kratos from God of War, Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima, and Varl from Horizon Zero Dawn. Those figures will go on pre-order on July 15th and ship starting on September 1st.

Spin Master first announced that it had obtained the global toy license for Sony Interactive Entertainment's PlayStation titles back in 2022. Games covered with the license included God of War, Horizon Forbidden West, The Last of Us, and UNCHARTED, as well as other franchises owned by the PlayStation brand. In addition to making action figures, the global license gives Spin Master the ability to make everything from plushes to RCs to tabletop games.

The timing of the new releases are well-timed, considering that HBO is also currently filming season two of its The Last of Us television series, with a planned release of 2025. A Horizon LEGO Adventures game is also in the works based on the Horizon video game series, with a planned release for later this year and also marking the franchise's first appearance on the Nintendo Switch.

What is Star Trek: Starfleet Academy about?

According to Paramount's official synopsis:

"Star Trek: Starfleet Academy introduces viewers to a young group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself."

Alex Kurtzman and Landau are Star Trek: Starfleet Academy's co-showrunners. They also serve as executive producers alongside Gaia Violo, Aaron Baiers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Jenny Lumet, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Frank Siracusa, and John Weberby.

Ahead of Star Trek: Discovery Season 5's premiere, ComicBook asked Kurtzman about Star Trek's future:

"I spent a lot of time that first season [of Discovery] really kind of meditating on, you know, this incredible universe that has been around for so long and how much more can be done with it, how many amazing stories there are to tell. There's really an infinite number of stories to tell. I only want to make another Star Trek show if there's something to say. I don't wanna do it just to do more. I think that would be a huge disservice to Star Trek; it would be a huge disservice to the fans, and I think the fans would feel it instantaneously. They would know this is not authentic. Because if there's one thing that Trek fans know, it's authenticity."

Ravensburger's third Disney Lorcana release, Into the Inklands, launched back in March and introduced 200 new cards to the game, most notably location cards that feature popular Disney story settings like Motonui from Disney's Moana or the Jolly Roger from Disney's Peter Pan. These cards will offer players bonuses, special abilities and more. The set also brings in new characters like Disney's Pluto, 101 Dalmatians' Perdita, Scrooge McDuck from DuckTales, Kit Cloudkicker from TaleSpin, and Jim Hawkins and the RLS Legacy crew from Treasure Planet. There are even in-game mini-stories that "unfold through quotes and descriptive text (flavor text), allowing players to discover even more links between cards".

That said, you might be interested in taking advantage of an early Prime Day 2024 deal that Amazon is running on the Disney Lorcana TCG: Into the Inklands Booster Pack set, which drops the price by 32% to $98.04. What's Next For Disney Lorcana?

Disney Lorcana: Ursula's Return launched in May, and the fifth set was recently revealed as Shimmering Skies. Details about the new set are light, although we know that it will formally introduce characters from Wreck-It Ralph to the game and that set will discontinue its original ordering by alphabetical sequence, opting for a different numbering pattern instead.

McFarlane Toys launched awesome-looking Batmobile 2-pack inspired by Tim Burton's 1989 Batman film starring Michael Keaton last year as an Amazon exclusive, and it sold out in the blink of an eye. It has restocked since then, but today you have a chance to score a major deal on it. At the time of writing, it's 28% off on Amazon as part of an early Prime Day lightning deal that's only open to Prime members. That's an all-time low price, and it will disappear when fully claimed. Speaking of the Batmobile, DC Comics is celebrating 85 years of Batman throughout 2024, and so far the festivities have included new merch like Funko Pops and LEGO sets. This Hot Wheels Batmobile set was just added to the lineup, and it looks to be a fantastic item for collectors that won't break the bank. It includes five 1:64 scale die-cast iterations of the Batmobile: the Batman '66 TV Series Batmobile, the Batmobile from the 1989 film starring Michael Keaton, the Batman & Robin Batmobile, The Dark Knight Trilogy Tumbler (the camo version for some reason), and the Batmobile from the recent The Batman film starring Robert Pattinson.

Following the release of the 2996-piece LEGO Marvel SHIELD Helicarrier (76042) set in 2015, LEGO has launched a midi-scale version of the vehicle as it appeared in The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron. The new Helicarrier clocks in at 509 pieces, making it perfect for display in a smaller space like a bookshelf or desk (measures a little over 13-inches long).

What Is Captain America: Brave New World About?

Captain America: Brave New World will follow the new adventures of Sam Wilson / Captain America (Anthony Mackie) following the events of The Falcon and Winter Soldier. The film will also star Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres / Falcon, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, and Shira Haas as Sabra. Xosha Roquemore, Seth Rollins, Rosa Salazar, and Giancarlo Esposito have been cast in currently-unknown roles.

While the Captain America sequel is breaking a lot of new ground for the MCU, Mackie views this movie as a kind of homecoming. Thinking about it, he's been a part of the Marvel Studios orbit for more than a decade now. In fact, some of the filming locations for Captain America: Brave New World are the same as when he made his MCU debut in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Mackie told The Wrap that filming this movie brought everything full-circle.

"It kind of brought my Marvel experience full circle because we shot in D.C. at the same hotel that we shot Winter Soldier at," Mackie reflected. "One of my first Marvel scenes was me sitting at a table talking to the senator and me and Chris [Evans] and Scarlett [ Johansson] kidnapping him and we go back and we stay at the same hotel and we shot at that same area. So in that regard, it was really emotional to think how far my character has come and where he is now after the 10 years that I've been in the MCU."

Captain America: Brave New World hits theaters on February 14, 2025,

LEGO is adding to their lineup of Star Wars sets that celebrate the 25th anniversary of their partnership with Lucasfilm with the Creative Play Droid Builder (75392), the Desert Skiff & Sarlacc Pit (75396), and C-3PO (75398). All of these sets will officially launch on July 31st / August 1st at 9pm PT / 12am ET, but some are available to pre-order now. A full breakdown can be found below.

The Return of the Jedi Desert Skiff set comes with 558 pieces as well as minifigures of Boba Fett, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, and an exclusive LEGO Star Wars 25th Anniversary Nien Nunb. Features include levers to move Sarlacc's tentacles and space for an unfortunate LEGO minifigure inside its mouth. The set is listed here at the LEGO Shop with a price tag of $79.99. The Droid Builder set includes 1186 pieces that allows fans to build, customize, and mash up four classic Star War droids - R2-D2, Chopper (C1-10P), QT-KT and R5-J2. It also comes with LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary minifigure of Young Princess Leia with her droid L0-LA59, aka Lola. With the Creative Play Droid Builder, accessories are a big part of the customization options, with a duck, cowboy hat, baseball cap, hat with flower, mustache, ice cream, balloon, glasses, bow, bow tie, headphones, 2 jet boosters and 2 stud shooters included in the set. Though it's not part of the Star Wars 25th anniversary lineup, LEGO has also unveiled the Ahsoka Tano's Duel on Peridea (75385) set, which is based on the live action Ahoska series on Disney+. It includes 382 pieces as well as minifigures of Ahsoka Tano, Ezra Bridger, Morgan Elsbeth, Grand Admiral Thrawn, and a Night Trooper. It also features a platform with 3 built-in turntables for spinning LEGO minifigure battles along with a function to recreate Ezra's leap off the platform from the Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 1 finale. It is listed here at the LEGO Shop with a price tag of $54.99. Look for it to go live on the morning of August 1st.

DC Comics is celebrating 85 years of Batman throughout 2024, and so far the festivities have included new merch like Funko Pops and LEGO sets. This Hot Wheels Batmobile set was just added to the lineup, and it looks to be a fantastic item for collectors that won't break the bank. It includes five 1:64 scale die-cast iterations of the Batmobile: the Batman '66 TV Series Batmobile, the Batmobile from the 1989 film starring Michael Keaton, the Batman & Robin Batmobile, The Dark Knight Trilogy Tumbler (the camo version for some reason), and the Batmobile from the recent The Batman film starring Robert Pattinson.

Pre-orders for the Hot Wheels Batman 85th anniversary Batmobile set can be found here on Amazon priced at $19.99 with a release date set for July 15th. From the official description:

Speaking of the camo Tumbler from the Dark Knight Trilogy, McFarlane Toys recently launched an Amazon exclusive edition of the vehicle that's designed to accommodate two 7-inch scale DC Multiverse figures. At the time of writing it was still available to pre-order here on Amazon for $69.99 with a release date set for July 26th.

What James Gunn Has Planned For Batman

At the moment, The Brave and the Bold is a bit of a mystery. DC Studios has started off the James Gunn and Peter Safran era with a lot of fun plans. One of the biggest announcements was their Batman project. Longtime fans are excited to see what this Bat-Family-centric take on The Caped Crusader will be like. Damian Wayne fans, your time is here, and this time we're going to see the character in live-action.

"This is the introduction of the DCU's Batman..." Gunn previously wrote. "This is the story of Damian Wayne, who is Batman's actual son who we didn't know existed for the first eight to 10 years of his life. He was raised as a little murderer and assassin. He's a little son of a bitch. He's my favorite Robin. It's based on the Grant Morrison comic book's run, which is one of my favorite Batman runs, and we are putting that all together right now."

"And this is obviously a feature film, and it's going to feature other members of the extended 'Bat-family', just because we feel like they've been left out of the Batman stories in the theater for far too long," Safran added during the announcement.

The Acolyte The Black Series Darth Teeth Helmet was the big Star Wars release from Hasbro this week, but they also snuck in The Black Series Rebel Trooper and Stormtrooper 2-pack, which makes troop building for the Rebels and the Empire super convenient. Inspired by Star Wars: A New Hope, the Rebel trooper figure comes with a helmet, data disk, and blaster accessory. The Stormtrooper includes a blaster.

Pre-orders for the Star Wars The Black Series Rebel Trooper and Stormtrooper are available here at Entertainment Earth (free U.S. shipping on orders $79+) and here on Amazon priced at $44.99, which isn't too bad for a multipack. It will arrive on your doorstep on September 1st. This is a unique versus set for Hasbro's Black Series, so grab one - or ten - while you can.

Speaking of unique Star Wars products, LEGO is bringing some of the Star Wars mashup designs featured in the LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy four-part animated series into the real world. How about a Dark Side version of the Millennium Falcon or a mashup between a Tie Fighter and an X-Wing? Darth Jar Jar perhaps? With these two new LEGO sets, you can make these crazy concepts a reality. Details about each of the sets can be found below, and keep in mind that the the LEGO Firework Celebrations set (40689) will come free with orders $85 or more.

Well, it looks as though we have another Baby Yoda situation on our hands with the presumed Sith Lord that debuted in the latest episode of Star Wars: The Acolyte. The internet has dubbed him 'Darth Teeth', while Disney appears to be officially calling him 'The Stranger' for the purposes of spoiler-free merchandising. We find out who is hiding under the mask in the episode, thereby completing the Baby Yoda / The Child / Grogu connection.

Whatever you want to call him, we can probably all agree that the helmet is cool looking. That's a good thing for Hasbro, who are set to drop an electronic helmet based on the character this Thursday, June 27th at 10am PT / 1pm ET. After that time, it will be available to pre-order here at Entertainment Earth (free US shipping on orders $79+) and here on Amazon priced at $99.99. UPDATE The helmet is live! What Is Star Wars: The Acolyte About?

In Star Wars: The Acolyte an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems.

Star Wars: The Acolyte stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner- Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss. Leslye Headland created the series, based on Star Wars by George Lucas, and serves as an executive producer along with Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King and Jason Micallef. Charmaine DeGrate? and Kor Adana are the co-executive producers. Rayne Roberts, Damian Anderson, Eileen Shim and Rob Bredow are the producers.

What Is Deadpool & Wolverine About?

Deadpool & Wolverine was helmed by Shawn Levy from a script written by Bob's Burgers' Wendy Molyneaux and Lizzie Molyneaux-Loeglin, with Deadpool and Deadpool 2 writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick also returning to contribute to the script. Not much is known about the plot, but there has been a lot of speculation and exciting teases.

In addition to Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool/Wade Wilson and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Deadpool & Wolverine will also star Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Stefan Kapi?i? as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus, Emma Corrin, and Matthew Macfadyen.

"I always wanted Hugh to come back," Reynolds explained in a previous interview with Collider. "My first meeting with Kevin Feige when Disney bought Fox years ago, maybe three years ago, or three and a half, four years ago, I'm not sure, was about doing a movie with the two of us, a Deadpool/Wolverine movie. And that was not possible at the time. And then Hugh just happened to call at that perfect moment and express that he'd be interested in coming back and doing this one more time. And the contents of that conversation, I'll let Hugh, because I know it's only inevitable that you and Hugh are going to speak at some point soon, I'm sure. I'll let Hugh answer that on his own. But he expressed interest in coming back, and then it was my job to take that to Kevin Feige one more time and sell it."

Despite a rough start, Yuki Tabata's magical series has become a best-selling title under Shonen Jump. The manga has entered its final act, and due to Tabata's fluctuating schedule, the manga has moved to Jump Giga in order to space out new chapter launches. As for its anime, Black Clover was brought to television by Studio Pierrot, and the show wrapped in 2021 after it caught up with Tabata's manga. How to Read and Watch Black Clover

If you wanted to catch up with Black Clover's manga now that it's in the midst of its final arc, you can now find the newest chapters as they release with Viz Media's digital Shonen Jump library and Shueisha's MangaPlus service. Black Clover's anime has yet to announce whether or not it will return someday (though there are reports noting it could come back in a different form), but that also means there's plenty of time to catch up with the over 170 episodes available.

Black Clover's anime is now streaming with Crunchyroll, Netflix (where you can also find the Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King movie), and more, and they tease the anime as such, "In a world where magic is everything, Asta and Yuno are both found abandoned at a church on the same day. While Yuno is gifted with exceptional magical powers, Asta is the only one in this world without any. At the age of fifteen, both receive grimoires, magic books that amplify their holder's magic. Funko is following up on the Dragon Ball GT wave that they dropped in May with the first collection of Pop figures from the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero film that launched to much acclaim in 2022. Commons in the wave include Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 with Son Gohan (Beast), Orange Piccolo (Chance at Chase), and Gohan in Cape (Chance at Chase) launching as exclusives. The packaging for the Pops also reveals that Cell Max will be added to the collection in the near future.

What's Next for Dragon Ball?

There will still be new Dragon Ball materials to enjoy later this year even with Dragon Ball Super's manga future left uncertain. Dragon Ball Daima will be a brand new anime series set to release some time later this Fall for the franchise's 40th anniversary. It has yet to confirm a concrete release date as of the time of this publication, but the late Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama helped to craft the original main story and character designs for Dragon Ball Daima. Yoshitaka Yashima and Aya Komaki are directing the series for Toei Animation, Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru is adapting Toriyama's designs for animation, and Yuuko Kakihara is supervising and writing the scripts.

Masako Nozawa will once again be providing the voice for Kid Goku, and she is currently the only confirmed member of Dragon Ball Daima's voice cast announced so far. Akira Toriyama previously teased the original story for Dragon Ball Daima as such when it was first announced, "Due to a conspiracy, Goku and his friends are turned small. In order to fix things, they'll head off to a new world! It's a grand adventure with intense action in an unknown and mysterious world. Since Goku has to make up for his petite size, he uses his Power Pole to fight, something not seen in a long time."

What to Know for Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero

Directed by Tetsuro Kodama for Toei Animation with an original story, screenplay, and new character designs from original Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama, Crunchyroll teases Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero as such, "The Red Ribbon Army was once destroyed by Son Goku. Individuals, who carry on its spirit, have created the ultimate Androids, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2. These two Androids call themselves 'Super Heroes'. They start attacking Piccolo and Gohan... What is the New Red Ribbon Army's objective? In the face of approaching danger, it is time to awaken, Super Hero!"

In 1974, Roman Polanski, Robert Towne, and Jack Nicholson teamed brought film noir back to the big screen in a massive way with the release of Chinatown. The decadent and sprawling epic about a private eye caught in the middle of a Los Angeles water conspiracy has stood the test of time and, 50 years after its release, has been given the 4K release treatment from Paramount. As part of the Paramount Presents line, Chinatown was treated to a full restoration from the original camera negative, resulting in the best version of the film we've ever seen at home.

The Movie

There isn't a whole lot to say about Chinatown that hasn't already been said. It's one of the greatest films of all time and it somehow continues to get better with age.

Jack Nicholson stars as private investigator Jake Gittes, who gets caught in the middle of a conspiracy when he starts investigating the Los Angeles water & power commissioner. Around every turn, Jake discovers new evidence that leads him astray in a whole new way, and his case eventually spirals into a story of despair and hopelessness.

Chinatown has one of the most devastating endings in cinema, as all of the plot threads come together in one brutal, surprising scene that reveals what the story was trying to tell you the entire time.

The Disc

The Paramount Presents series has been under some scrutiny from movie fans after its most recent release, Once Upon a Time in the West, suffered from some frustrating grain and compression issues. Chinatown quickly rights the ship, however, with one of the year's best 4K restorations.

I mean this picture is just sublime. There's so much detail in the Dolby Vision HDR transfer and it's noticeable from the very opening frames. The colors are vibrant and the contrast is excellent. Everything from the fabric of Evelyn's jackets to the stitches on Jake's nose can be seen with absolute crystal clarity. It creates a more immersive experience than any other home release of Chinatown has been able to, which significantly enhances the viewing. Jake's journey here is all about a spiral into the darkest parts of the human experience, set to the brightest daylight California has to offer, and this 4K disc puts you deep into the trenches with him.

There will be some that wonder about the lack of significant film grain with Chinatown, wondering if there's been any substantial smoothing during the transfer. I get where the thought comes from, but that's not the case here. The way Chinatown was initially filmed, it had a much finer, softer grain than other films of the era. It has a distinct look and that's been the case ever since 1974. This transfer captures it perfectly.

Chinatown's audio track only adds to the immersion. It's the same Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio that accompanied the excellent 2012 Blu-ray edition, but that's more than fine because there wasn't much that could be done to upgrade that track anyway.

The Features

Chinatown gets a big boost in the way of special features because the release actually includes an entire second movie. The included Blu-ray isn't another copy of Chinatown, but rather the 1990 Chinatown sequel The Two Jakes. Not nearly as well-regarded as its predecessor, The Two Jakes sees Nicholson reprise his role as the private eye and serve as the film's director. It's always nice to get two movies for the price of one.

As far as the actual special features on Chinatown's 4K disc, there are a handful of brand new featurettes to explore. Sam Wasson, a film historian who literally wrote the book on Chinatown, is at the center of two of these features, discussing the legacy of the film as well as the third installment that never came to be. The third new feature sees Chinatown assistant director Hawk Koch share stories from his time on set.

This release also includes the features from the 2012, one of which is a feature commentary from screenwriter Robert Towne and filmmaker David Fincher. That duo have actually written a Chinatown prequel series together, though there's no telling when development on that project is going to move forward at Netflix.

The Verdict

If you're a movie fan and you have the ability to watch 4K discs at home, adding this Chinatown release to your collection is a must. This is the first disc I've reviewed in 2024 that I've actually given that stamp to, so I don't throw it around lightly. This is one of the great American films in the history of cinema, and the folks in Paramount's home entertainment department gave it the restoration it deserves.

With the LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy four-part animated series premiering on Disney+ on September 13th, LEGO is bringing some of the Star Wars mashup designs featured in the show into the real world. How about a Dark Side version of the Millennium Falcon or a mashup between a Tie Fighter and an X-Wing? Darth Jar Jar perhaps? Unfortunately, these are labeled as "Complete Series" releases, so one would assume that means that a second season isn't in the works. However, as you'll see below, it appears that Orange is prepping something for Trigun fans to get excited about:.

Orange Reveals Anime Expo 2024 Plans

Orange's upcoming panel at Anime Expo will be taking place on July 4th. Dubbed "Orange Studio Unveiling: TRIGUN STAMPEDE, BEASTARS and..." the panel is teased as such, "Welcome to Big Orange Studio Day! Orange proudly presents an exclusive showcase featuring TRIGUN STAMPEDE, BEASTARS, and upcoming adventure. Dive into the latest crafts by our animation virtuosos. If you haven't been keeping up with Trigun since its big comeback, we cannot recommend the anime's reboot enough. The series features some of the industry's best CG animation to date, and Nightow helped guide the anime's story alongside writer Shin Okashima. So for those needing more details on the reboot, you can find the synopsis for Trigun Stampede below:

"Vash the Stampede's a joyful gunslinging pacifist, so why does he have a $$6 million bounty on his head? It's been a few months since Epic Mickey: Rebrushed was announced, and Disney fans have been eagerly awaiting more information, including a release date. Thankfully, the wait is nearing an end, as THQ Nordic has announced that the game will be released September 24th on all platforms, including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. A Costume Pack DLC has been revealed, and will be a pre-order bonus for the digital versions of the game. The pack features three alternate looks for Mickey, including Steamboat Willie, Brave Little Tailor, and Football. Digital pre-orders on consoles also come with 24 hours of early access, allowing players to check out the game on September 23rd, instead!

In addition to these standard versions of the game, a special collector's edition has been announced. This will include several extras, including a 28cm statue of Mickey, six postcards, a tin sign, a SteelBook, an Oswald the Lucky Rabbit keychain, and the Costume Pack DLC. As of this writing, pre-orders for the collector's edition don't seem to be live, and we don't know exactly how much it will cost. However, based on some of the collector's editions that have been released for some of THQ Nordic's other games, it should be significantly more expensive than the standard release.

Rebrushed marks the first time the original Epic Mickey has ever been made available outside of a Nintendo platform. Originally released as a Wii exclusive back in 2010, this version of Epic Mickey has been given a fresh coat of paint by new developer Purple Lamp. In addition to the graphics, players can expect some other improvements to the Wii release, including changes to the controls, as well as new abilities for Mickey, such as sprinting, dash, and ground pound. Hopefully the new release will offer enough improvements to satisfy fans of the original, as well as those that never had a chance to experience it!

Back in 1997, a Berserk TV anime series attempted to tackle the dark tale of the Black Swordsman known as Guts. It only ran for 25 episodes, but it is arguably the best anime adaptation to date. A fan-made adaptation dubbed Berserk: The Black Swordsman aims to change that, but while you wait to see what comes of the unofficial Berserk anime from Studio Eclypse, you can now catch the original series in its entirety on Blu-ray.

The complete 1997 series launched on Blu-ray back in March, but it has been difficult to find since. However, at the time of writing, it's available to order here on Amazon, for $51.49 (14% off) though another sellout is likely. In addition to some awesome cover art, it will include all 25 episodes in high definition with the original Japanese language and English subtitles alongside the original, fan favorite English dub. In an era where blockbuster theater hits seem harder to come by (especially in the MCU) Deadpool & Wolverine is poised for a monster opening weekend at the box office. Indeed, all the years of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman teasing each other on social media is about to pay off in a big way. Wolverine Returns In Deadpool 3

Deadpool & Wolverine, the first R-rated Marvel Studios movie, is tracking to be the biggest movie of the summer when it opens on July 26th. Alongside Reynolds and Jackman, who reunite for the first time since 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the cast includes Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, Matthew Macfadyen as TVA Agent Paradox, and returning Deadpool franchise stars Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Rob Delaney as Peter, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shioli Kutsuna as Yumiko, and Stefan Kapi?i? as Colossus of the X-Men.

Here's the official, profanity-laced synopsis: "Marvel Studios presents their most significant mistake to date - Deadpool & Wolverine. A listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life. His days as the morally flexible mercenary, Deadpool, behind him. When his homeworld faces an existential threat, Wade must reluctantly suit-up again with an even more reluctantlier... reluctanter? Reluctantest? He must convince a reluctant Wolverine to -- F***. Synopses are so f*** stupid."

Last year Hasbro launched pre-orders for some highly anticipated 2-packs, including Logan vs Sabretooth and Brood Wolverine vs Lilandra Neramani. These sets celebrate the 50th anniversary of Wolverine, who first appeared in The Incredible Hulk #180 / #181 in 1974. They followed those Marvel Legends sets up with the Lady Mandarin Psylocke vs. Wolverine and Joe Fixit and Patch 2-packs. The Hasbro Marvel Legends Joe Fixit and Patch 2-pack features the characters as they appear on the cover of Wolverine #8 (1988), which was an homage to the Twins movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. It will include interchangeable hands and head accessories.

Wolverine Returns In Deadpool 3

Deadpool & Wolverine, the first R-rated Marvel Studios movie, is tracking to be the biggest movie of the summer when it opens on July 26th. Alongside Reynolds and Jackman, who reunite for the first time since 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the cast includes Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, Matthew Macfadyen as TVA Agent Paradox, and returning Deadpool franchise stars Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Rob Delaney as Peter, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shioli Kutsuna as Yumiko, and Stefan Kapi?i? as Colossus of the X-Men.

While fans have gotten various sets that honor a variety of beloved scenes and settings from the series, The Great Hall offers fans the chance to immerse themselves in one of the most significant locations in the entire series. Whether you've been along for the LEGO Harry Potter journey since the beginning or if The Great Hall marks your first foray into Hogwarts, the building experience is a delightful journey for fans of all ages.

Much like the awe-struck reaction felt by Harry, Ron, and Hermione when first entering Hogwarts, you'll likely be impressed as soon as you pick up the box for The Great Hall, as it brings an unexpected heft not found in sets of the same size. Coming in at 1,732 pieces, the weight of the packaging reminds you that you're going to be building a structure that has to hold up to the Death Eaters.

The first six bags of the build help set the foundation of The Great Hall, and while the completion of these bags might not result in something majorly fulfilling from a visual perspective, it helps establish the footprint of the impressive set. Establishing an area of roughly 8" deep by 18" wide, these first bags feature the craggy base of Hogwarts, the catacombs found underneath, as well as the front steps. One reminder that this is a set based on the first film is that the minifigs of the iconic children feature minilegs, which don't bend but visually help set the characters apart from the full-grown adults.

The next set of bags form the front courtyard of Hogwarts where a number of iconic moments in the films took place, and while there are lots of areas in The Great Hall for younger fans to play and interact with, the scale of the courtyard doesn't leave much room for anything other than posing the various characters. With the front steps leading through the courtyard, however, it's fulfilling to get to use architecturally inspired building methods for this key component of the locale.

Bags 10 through 14 are the real stars of the show, as this is where The Great Hall itself starts to come together. While there are many necessary architectural elements required to build, from walls to windows to tables, the set replicates the history of Hogwarts and the various repairs and changes over the years in that you're not often repeating the same exact build patterns. Even if you're only making slight changes in the bricks necessary to build a wall, it breaks up the symmetry for something more visually fulfilling and also something that requires a builder to pay closer attention to what they're doing, heightening the overall fun of the build.

Feasts are a core fixture of many Harry Potter films, so while The Great Hall authentically incorporates food elements into the build, it's the setting of the tables and their turkey legs, cupcakes, and goblets that might be the least exciting section of the whole build. Luckily, that's immediately followed by one of the more evocative elements of the build, which are the candles that appear to hover magically below the ceiling. The use of translucent pieces is a subtle though effective way to replicate the concept so beloved from the films. Additionally, once you've completed the assembly of The Great Hall, it's very satisfying to place it on top of your foundation and to admire how tall it is, as it stands at nearly 17".

The final two bags bring to life various rooms that establish the lower levels of Hogwarts, which include a bathroom, a common room, and a corridor. While The Great Hall is a key component of all of the Harry Potter movies, these rooms are what remind us that this is meant to be Hogwarts from Sorcerer's Stone specifically, as the build includes both a massize troll and a minifig of Professor Quirrell. Adding an extra level of dynamism to these rooms is that all three slide out of the set so that younger fans can more closely recreate their favorite moments from the film, while the bathroom specifically has elements that are meant to easily be broken in order to replicate the chaos caused by the troll. When they are slid back into the rest of the set, they are held in place with pegs, so while there's some inherent fragility to these three rooms, they aren't entirely detached from the rest of The Great Hall in case you need to move the entire set around.

The LEGO Harry Potter's Hogwarts Castle: The Great Hall proves that no matter how much time has passed since Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and how many other LEGO sets have been released that honor the Wizarding World, that debut movie and Hogwarts itself are iconic for a reason. Even if you've built other elements of Hogwarts, you'll be rewarded with this build that an adult can complete in roughly eight hours. Another exciting element about this set specifically is that the common room can be swapped for the Hogwarts Castle: Potions Class set, and that the Hogwarts Castle Owlery and Hogwarts Castle Boathouse can also be combined with the set for a more sprawling scenario (all sets sold separately).

No matter how many times you might have built other sections or sizes of Hogwarts, getting to spend a day devoted to the iconic The Great Hall is a fulfilling journey for fans of all ages, as it's a challenging experience that never grows redundant, while younger fans will appreciate the more dynamic elements of the set and the multiple statures of the figures that accompany the build.

Dark Horse Comics have announced another way for Insomniac Games' Marvel's Spider-Man fans to showcase their love for the game franchise. The latest item to go up for pre-order is a poster collection for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 which will feature 20 full color, gallery quality posters showcasing "the most amazing moments" from the latest entry to Insomniac's game franchise, as was first reported by GameRant. The 12" x 16" posters are attached to a tear-away spine, featuring imagery of "Miles Morales and Peter Parker's death-defying swings and tense battles across Marvel's New York." Marvel's Spider-Man 2: The Poster Collection has set a release for November 13th.

Outside of the cover image, Dark Horse didn't release any additional looks at what the posters contained in the Marvel's Spider-Man 2 poster collection will showcase, though it is noted both Peter and Miles will be featured and there's plenty of concept art from The Art of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 that would make incredible posters. Given that the cover image shows stunning art depicting a split between Peter Parker and Spider-Man while cleverly showing that the two crossover by having Peter's arms crossed at the wrist, one hand holding the spider from which his powers come while the other is in its iconic web-shooting position. The newly announced poster collection is the second if its kind to be released by Dark Horse, its predecessor Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales - The Poster Collection releasing earlier this year, which is still available to order through the Dark Horse website and other retailers.

As for the game itself, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 introduced an update this week that brought with it a number of new suits as well as accessibility improvements and bug fixes.

During their latest Marvel Legends fanstream earlier this week, Hasbro unveiled a new Build-A-Figure wave inspired by the Strange Tales series, and it includes some characters that are brand new to the Legends lineup. Note that six of the seven figures in the wave include a piece to assemble the oversized Blackheart figure, with the only exception being Weapon of Vengeance.

What is Deadpool & Wolverine about?

In Marvel Studios' Deadpool & Wolverine, Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) will change the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). The film also stars Matthew Macfadyen as Paradox, and Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, with the return of Deadpool alums Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Stefan Kapi?i? as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Rob Delaney as Peter, and Lewis Tan as Shatterstar. Aaron Stanford is returning as Pyro from the X-Men film series, with Jennifer Garner rumored to return as Elektra Natchios.

Deadpool & Wolverine will be released exclusively in theaters on July 26th.

New core rulebooks are coming to Dungeons & Dragons, but they are intended as a celebration of the game's popular 5th edition ruleset instead of a replacement. Two years ago, Wizards of the Coast announced "One D&D," a new plan to rework Dungeons & Dragons with centered around a heavily reworked ruleset for the game and a new Virtual Tabletop (VTT) system that would synergize with D&D Beyond to streamline digital gameplay. After two years of playtesting and a gradual scaling back of many of the more controversial proposed rule changes, the work of One D&D (although that branding was abandoned last year) is now bearing fruit with the release of new Core Rulebooks, with the Player's Handbook due to be released in September.

Edition changes have a controversial history within Dungeons & Dragons, with "edition wars" causing fractures in the fanbase as players decide whether to adopt new rules or keep their now defunct rulebooks. At least in part because of this history, Wizards of the Coast has stressed for sometime that the new Player's Handbook isn't the start of a new edition to the game, but rather a revised and reworked book, with the core rules remaining intact but incorporating a decade's worth of lessons and feedback.

"Several years ago, we felt that the best way to celebrate 50 years of D&D was to return to the core books themselves, really the foundation of the entire game, and lovingly go through every piece of these books and incorporate all the lessons we've learned over the past decade and really make the best versions of these books that we could make," Jeremy Crawford, game director for Dungeons & Dragons said during a recent press conference. "This is also the 10th anniversary of 5th Edition itself. So we have this amazing confluence of these two anniversaries."

The new Player's Handbook follows a two-year playtest period, in which fans were given chunks of rules to try at their table and provide feedback. The design team believes that the playtest period proceeding the 2014 release of D&D was a key reason for the ruleset's success, and subsequent playtest feedback helped provide valuable information for the team to use when planning these revisions. "One of the keys to 5th Edition's success is that it was built in communication with our fans," noted Chris Perkins, story director for Dungeons & Dragons. "Feedback has really helped shape the game over the last 10 years and actually even before that."

Although longtime D&D fans might not find many surprises within the Player's Handbook, a major change to the book is in its format and style. The first chapter, for instance, provides an example of gameplay that condenses all the basic rules of the game into a single example, with highlights used to both demonstrate and elaborate on key components to the rules. Likewise, the Player's Handbook also contains an extensive rules glossary, providing a quick and easy reference guide to D&D players to turn to when they forget a rule or need some quick clarification. Also, most of the artwork for the Core Rulebooks are brand new, with updated monster designs and gorgeous new art by some of the game's top artists.

Wizards previously revealed that character creation would change in the new Player's Handbook, with a character's background holding equal weight to a character's species (renamed from race) when determining what mechanical abilities that character has. While the original 5th edition ruleset assigned certain ability score increases to certain races, those ability score increases are now determined by background, along with choices for certain feats. Backgrounds previously provided only a handful of minor benefits, but they are now an integral part of character creation and also notably decouple Dungeons & Dragons from an outdated bioessentialist way of looking at a multi-species world.

The Player's Handbook will also include 48 subclasses (4 for each core class), the most to appear in any single D&D rulebook. All of the 2014 Player's Handbook subclasses (save for some Cleric domains and Wizard schools) return, but 16 subclasses have been "revamped to the point of being new" as part of an attempt to rebalance certain classes to make them more impactful. 15 of the 48 subclasses are brand new to the Player's Handbook, many of which were pulled from other expansion-style books from 5th Edition and then reworked.

In addition to the new character rules, other parts of the game have been substantially upgraded. The new rulebooks contain a weapon mastery system for martial-themed classes that add more variety and choices during battle. Included in the Dungeon Master's Guide are a brand new crafting system and a "bastions" system that allows Level 5 players to create their own strongholds and help build out their own corner of the world. The new Player's Handbook meanwhile includes over 400 spells, 30 of which are brand new, 27 of which are redesigned, and 162 of which are "reworked." The Player's Handbook also includes 75 feats, which have greater importance in character-building than before.

Some of the more interesting things to emerge from Wizards' recent press release on the new Core Rulebooks was the announcement that a new Starter Set is in the works (many fans had assumed as much, given that current Starter Sets would be somewhat outdated with the release of the new Core Rulebooks) and a small pre-order bonus detail - namely that players who pre-order the Player's Handbook would receive a gold dragon miniature for the upcoming VTT service. The gold dragon bonus is the first real mention of the VTT by Wizards in several months and seemingly hints that more news about the service could be coming soon.

Pre-orders for the new Core Rulebooks are available now on D&D Beyond and here on Amazon. The new Player's Handbook will be released on September 17th, the Dungeon Master's Guide will be released on November 11th, and the Monster Manual goes on sale on February 18th, 2025.

Tatsuki Fujimoto's Chainsaw Man anime and manga adaptations have been hugely successful, which makes the lack of Funko Pops based on the franchise rather puzzling. After all, Funko is all about anime right now, and Pop figures based on properties like Jujutsu Kaisen and Dragon Ball just keep on coming. A Transformers / G.I. Joe Crossover Movie Is On The Way

Paramount Pictures recently confirmed that a live-action Transformers / G.I. Joe crossover movie is in the works as a sequel to last year's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. Transformers franchise producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Steven Spielberg, Michael Bay, Mark Vahradian, Tom DeSanto, and Don Murphy are on board for the new movie and Chris Hemsworth is currently in talks to star.

In February, di Bonaventura told ComicBook that "we are going to deliver on the promise we made," referring to the Beasts stinger scene teasing a crossover between the robots in disguise and the real American heroes.

"We've talked about it since the beginning of the franchise because the fans have been like, 'Come on, when you are going to do Joe?!'" di Bonaventura said. "The truth of the matter is there's so many great Transformers characters that we didn't feel like we needed to rush and do G.I. Joe. But you also want an organic way, otherwise it feels like a cynical exercise."

The Boys Season 4 premiered its first three episodes on Thursday, June 13th, streaming on Prime Video. Subsequent episodes will be released one at a time every Thursday. The Boys TV series creator Eric Kripke confirmed recently that the upcoming The Boys season 5 will be the final one for the series.

A synopsis for The Boys Season 4 season reads: In Season 4 of The Boys, the world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power. Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca's son and his job as The Boys' leader. The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it's too late.
